Michael ThompsonBoard Director
Michael Thompson has had a long and successful career in the computer industry in Canberra working Datronics, Prime Computer, NEC, Acer Canberra and Dell. In 2007 Michael started his own IT company (Ethan Group) which has successfully become one of the major IT suppliers into Federal Government.
Michael competed in rallying (forest racing) at the highest levels in Australia, and also competed in 12 rounds of the World Rally Championship in Australia and New Zealand between 1994 and 2004. Michael built most of his racing cars and developed a passion for technology in cars and combining this with his strengths in computing. In the later stages of his rallying career Michael also held positions in the Australian Rally Commission as a competitor advisor, and on the board of Rallycorp, the rights holder to the Australian Rally Championship.
Michael’s support for electric cars developed over time from his passion for improvements in vehicles and also conservation and sustainability. Recognising that the internal combustion engine and CO2 emissions are to become a major problem in the future for all modes of transport, Michael understands the importance of electric vehicles and how the community needs to rapidly move to this technology. With the ability to talk about all forms of transport, and combining this with the technology of future new vehicles, Michael is showing people the future of motoring. His family now own and run 2 electric cars, powered by off-peak electricity.
