Welcome to the Electric Vehicle Council 🚘⚡

We are the peak national body representing the electric vehicle industry in Australia.

Representing members from across the value chain of the electric vehicle sector, the EVC is a trusted advisor and advocate to governments and decision makers across Australia.

Our mission is to drive investment and awareness to accelerate the electrification of transport, for a more sustainable and prosperous Australia.

As the market is emerging in Australia, our work is particularly aimed at increasing certainty for investment through policy, knowledge sharing and education.

State of EVs 2025 ⚡️

Our annual signature publication is now available! It charts Australia’s shift towards mainstream EV uptake, with momentum now clear in the numbers:

  • More than 72,000 EVs sold in the first half of 2025, a 12.1% share of new car sales,
  • a national fleet exceeding 410,000 EVs,
  • more than 150 models on offer,
  • and a public network of 1,200+ fast-charging sites and 4,000+ high-power plugs.

The report distils what this means for households, fleets and governments—combining market trends, regional and consumer uptake, infrastructure build-out and a forward policy roadmap—so readers can plan confidently for cleaner, cheaper transport over the coming financial year.

All Energy Australia in partnership with the EVC

As the Electric Vehicle Council, we’re proud to partner with All Energy Australia—the Southern Hemisphere’s largest clean energy event. For over 15 years, this gathering has been the essential meeting place to witness the newest breakthroughs across renewables and, crucially, transport electrification.

AUSTRALIA CAN BE AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE POWERHOUSE
Employing Australians to build batteries, chargers, cars, buses and trucks. Cutting pollution from transport and doing our fair share to combat climate change. Reducing our reliance on foreign oil by using Australian energy to move.
We can do all of this. But not while our policies and standards lag the world.
