2025 EV Ownership Survey
This year the Electric Vehicle Council in partnership with the the University of Sydney is running its EV ownership Survey. If you own an EV, or plan to buy an EV soon, we want to hear from you. This is your chance to share your lived experiences and help shape the future of the sector. We want to hear about your experience owning and operating an EV, using public charging and your home charging behaviours. You have until the 13th of July to complete the survey. As EVs become increasingly mainstream, it’s important for our industry to understand how mainstream adoption of EVs differs form early adoption. As increasing numbers of EVs hit our roads, knowing if charging infrastructure is meeting driver needs and how it is being used is imperative to ensure it meets driver needs. So, we’re planning to survey drivers again on different issues from EV driver road trip experiences to preference and use of public charging. The Electric Vehicle Council and University of Sydney present the EV Ownership Survey Summary for 2024
In 2024, the Electric Vehicle Council collaborated with the University of Sydney to conduct a comprehensive survey on EV ownership. EV owners and those considering the switch to electric provided valuable insights into real-world experiences—from charging habits and travel patterns to financial considerations. The publication reporting the key findings and insights from the survey is now available, showcasing how these contributions influenced consumer education, spurred industry innovation, and guided the development of policies for a sustainable, prosperous future for all Australians.
This survey primarily targets EV owners, but if you’re still on the path to owning an EV, whether you’re considering a purchase or lease, your perspective is also welcome.
An EV is defined as either a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) or a Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).
On average, the survey takes about 15 minutes to complete. We appreciate your time and effort in providing us with valuable insights into your experiences with EV ownership.
